Solar Hot Water Systems
Solar hot water systems or heating and cooling systems should be installed to I.M.P.S. Manufacturer's Installation Manual.
1. PD Solar system does not operate properly.
AT None.
CR Contractor should repair or replace components, parts or panels in accordance with manufacturer's warranties and/or guarantees if less than one year. Installer should be responsible for damage due to improper installation of solar systems for two years including interior damage caused by leaks.
Code Compliance
Revision 0.3 · Source-currentness recheck: September 30, 2026 · Controlled review checklist
This is a stand-alone code compliance checklist for this trade, added to the workmanship standards above and to full project-code requirements. It is not a complete trade code manual. It covers reviewed 2016–2026 changes and local implementation events; an older provision newly enforced locally is labeled as implementation, not claimed as newly invented code.

PM
Only affected new, replaced or altered work and legally triggered upgrades are included. The PM selects the applicable legal requirement and the compatible mandatory Anchor overlay before work starts. Unresolved source, limit or listing conflicts remain HOLD, and N/A requires a written reason. Checking a box means the item and its required evidence passed, not merely that it was read.
Where a city's legal minimum is lower, the compatible higher check remains an Anchor standard unless Cory approves a company-only exception. A city's nonadoption alone is not a reason to mark the higher company check N/A; actual scope, technical compatibility and legal/design/listing conflicts must be resolved.
Existing QR phases: QR-09S.
SS-01Expanded residential battery safeguards
Verify UL 9540 listing, allowed location and unit/separation limits. Under reviewed 2024 base text use ≥ 3-ft unit separation unless the listing/manual permits other spacing, ≤ 20 kWh/unit and applicable 40/80-kWh aggregate limits, or the required IFC pathway for exceeding limits.
- Change / applicability
- 2018-to-2021 IRC ESS expansion, with current 2024 R330 text. Affected: applicable residential ESS; actual edition/listing and exceptions govern.
- Required record
- Listing/manual, kWh/location schedule, measured spacing and approved alternate/IFC design.
- Hold point
- Before installation / rough cover.
SS-02Battery location and fire/impact coordination
Coordinate required room separation, door closure/latching, detection and vehicle-impact protection. Under reviewed 2024 text do not use sleeping rooms or spaces opening directly into them absent a valid specific exception/approval.
- Change / applicability
- 2021 residential ESS safeguards expanded; 2024 R330 current details. Affected: battery rooms/closets/garages/exterior installations.
- Required record
- Approved room/door/detection/impact design and installed/test evidence.
- Hold point
- Before installation / final release.
SS-03Commercial/multifamily renewable-energy requirement
Install the accepted on-site renewable system or approved equivalent-energy alternative under amended 701.3. Verify the elected 3%-annual-energy or 2-W/sq-ft roof-projection method rather than combining incompatible calculations.
- Change / applicability
- Scottsdale mandatory green-code implementation July 1, 2023. Affected: qualifying green-code projects, with the < 5,000-sq-ft conditioned-area exception and approved energy alternatives resolved.
- Required record
- Design calculation/exception, capacity/area and accepted alternative.
- Hold point
- Before procurement and final release.
SS-04Renewable-system metering and performance proof
Provide individual metering and test installed performance against design, delivering the report to the owner and official when requested.
- Change / applicability
- Scottsdale 2023 mandatory green-code implementation. Affected: applicable installed on-site renewable systems.
- Required record
- Meter identification, signed performance report and delivery record.
- Hold point
- Before solar trade closeout.
SS-05Battery-hazard building classification
Obtain the accepted occupancy/fire classification and hazard-specific sprinkler/detection design before installing an ESS or battery-related use within the regulated commercial categories.
- Change / applicability
- 2024 IBC lithium-battery occupancy/suppression/detection changes. Affected: specialized battery manufacture, storage, testing or vehicle uses, not every residential battery.
- Required record
- Classification and approved fire design; specialist acceptance.
- Hold point
- Before design / procurement / install.

Unverified or failed applicable items block the stated hold point. The subcontractor certifies actual work and evidence; the PM independently verifies and releases after required official inspections. Cory approves only company-standard exceptions, never statutory, permit, design or listing waivers.

PM release / date
AHJ / special inspection
Open correction / approved N/A / Anchor-only exception
Applicability Appendix
Record the exact adopted section/amendment, applicable exception, design/product instruction and required test configuration for each item before starting. A model-edition change is not automatically local law, and a local rule exported to another city is an Anchor requirement only when technically compatible and accepted.
This section does not establish an exhaustive all-clause ten-year history or every-city strictness proof. No unverified change is used as a passing criterion; current-only provisions with no demonstrated decade change remain in the full existing acceptance packet rather than falsely appearing here as new changes.
The September 30, 2026 recheck refreshed cited source evidence. A historical source can verify a change without establishing its current local applicability; source recheck is not a project release or a complete clause-by-clause supersession certification.
Scope caution: Solar-ready, PV generation, solar hot water and battery storage are separate scopes; one system's workmanship section does not accept the others. This caution is not an additional verified decade-change claim.
