Code Compliance
Revision 0.3 · Source-currentness recheck: September 30, 2026 · Controlled review checklist
This is a stand-alone change checklist for this trade, added to the existing workmanship and full project-code requirements. It is not a complete trade code manual. It covers reviewed 2016–2026 changes and local implementation events; an older provision newly enforced locally is labeled as implementation, not claimed as newly invented code.

PM
Only affected new, replaced or altered work and legally triggered upgrades are included. The PM selects the applicable legal requirement and the compatible mandatory Anchor overlay before work. Unresolved source, limit or listing conflicts remain HOLD, and N/A requires a written reason. Checking a box means the item and its required evidence passed, not merely that it was read.
Where a city's legal minimum is lower, the compatible higher check remains an Anchor standard unless Cory approves a company-only exception. A city's nonadoption alone is not a reason to mark the higher company check N/A; actual scope, technical compatibility and legal, design or listing conflicts must be resolved.

DW-01
Floor protection over appliance crawlspaces
Install the accepted membrane/system and required protection continuity. Document a valid exception before omitting it.
- Change / applicability
- 2018 IRC R302.13 update. Applies to floor-protection membrane within this trade's scope.
- Required record
- Assembly/exception, fastener and layer details, and pre-cover photos.
Hold point: Before finish conceals the fire assembly.
DW-02
Townhouse separation path
Install the scheduled complete separation assembly without undocumented layer, joint or penetration substitutions.
- Change / applicability
- 2018 IRC townhouse fire-separation update. Affects townhouse walls/ceilings and their interfaces.
- Required record
- Approved path or listed assembly, and layer/joint/penetration evidence.
Hold point: Before rated-assembly cover and final release.
DW-03
Residential ESS room protection
Provide the accepted room/ceiling protection, required Type X gypsum where applicable, protected penetrations and a coordinated door detail. Use the exact approved assembly rather than inferring a universal rated-room design.
- Change / applicability
- 2021 energy storage system (ESS) safeguards expanded; 2024 R330.4 details. Affects ESS utility spaces and openings into the dwelling.
- Required record
- ESS room/assembly/detail and concealed-installation photos.
Hold point: Before ESS installation and release.
DW-04
Low-emitting interior drywall/panel adhesive
Verify the interior drywall/panel adhesive VOC content limit of 50 g/L under the selected content path, or a documented permitted emission alternative. Submit weight/volume usage so the PM can demonstrate at least 85% compliance in the applicable product category.
- Change / applicability
- 2023 Scottsdale mandatory green-code implementation. Affects interior-side, site-applied adhesives/sealants under the adopted project green schedule.
- Required record
- Product technical data/certification, correct VOC basis, quantities, and the approved content-versus-emissions path.
Hold point: Before product approval and installation.
DW-05
Acoustical wall/ceiling emissions
Document at least 85% qualifying total area using approved emission certificates or deemed-compliant materials. For multilayer systems, verify each affected layer.
- Change / applicability
- Scottsdale 2023 mandatory green-code implementation. Applies to acoustical ceiling/wall materials in the adopted green scope.
- Required record
- Product/layer certifications and area calculation.
Hold point: Before purchasing or installing.
DW-06
Silica exposure controls
Use the fully implemented applicable Table 1 equipment/work-practice/respirator route, or an accepted exposure-assessment route. Document a written exposure-control plan and a designated competent person when covered. Do not treat short-duration work as automatically exempt.
- Change / applicability
- 2016 federal construction rule; federal enforcement September 23, 2017; Arizona adoption July 23, 2018. Applies to silica-bearing compound sanding and other covered dust tasks. Screen for silica-free materials and secondary exposure rather than assuming every drywall task is covered. Evaluate exposures from nearby trades as well as your own work.
- Required record
- Task/method, Table 1 entry or exposure assessment, control/respirator evidence, competent person and plan.
Hold point: Before dust-producing work.
DW-07
Weighed construction-waste diversion
Segregate and document gypsum board and associated eligible construction waste toward the project requirement of at least 50% eligible nonhazardous C&D waste diverted by weight. Exclude excavated soil and land-clearing debris, and do not count alternative daily cover or waste-to-energy as diversion.
- Change / applicability
- 2023 Scottsdale mandatory green-code implementation, not a claim the provision first existed in 2023. Applies to the commercial/multifamily green-code scope. Resolve the local < 5,000 sq ft project exception and any higher Anchor requirement.
- Required record
- Weight tickets, material/destination, recycling/reuse receipts and the PM project diversion calculation.
Hold point: Before trade closeout; keep records throughout the work.

Unverified or failed applicable items block the stated hold point. The subcontractor certifies actual work and evidence; the PM independently verifies and releases after required official inspections. Cory approves only company-standard exceptions, never statutory, permit, design or listing waivers.

Applicability Appendix
Record the exact adopted section/amendment, applicable exception, design/product instruction and required test configuration for each item before starting. A model-edition change is not automatically local law, and a local rule exported to another city is an Anchor requirement only when technically compatible and accepted.
This page does not establish an exhaustive all-clause ten-year history or every-city strictness proof. No unverified change is used as a passing criterion; current-only provisions with no demonstrated decade change remain in the full existing acceptance packet rather than falsely appearing here as new changes.
The September 30, 2026 recheck refreshed the cited source evidence. A historical source can verify a change without establishing its current local applicability; a source recheck is not a project release or a complete clause-by-clause supersession certification.
Silica dates distinguish federal enforcement from Arizona's July 23, 2018 adoption reported by ADOSH. Confirm the currently applicable state-plan standard and amendments before issue; the compatible Anchor safety baseline does not waive them. (Arizona adoption notice)
